Drappier Père Pinot 2 is an ephemeral cuvée from Maison Drappier that brings together the four Pinots of the Champagne appellation in equal parts.

It pays tribute to Georges Drappier, great-grandfather of the current generation, nicknamed Père Pinot for championing the replanting of Pinot Noir in the Aube. Created by Charline, Hugo and Antoine, the eighth generation, this second edition blends Pinot Noir, Meunier, Fromenteau (Pinot Gris) and Blanc Vrai (Pinot Blanc) from the 2020 harvest, all from the family plots in Urville. Half of the grapes were vinified and aged in quarter-muids made of oak from the Forêt du Temple, with no added sulphur, then the wine aged three years on laths. Only 1,764 bottles were produced.

Key facts

  • Origin: France, Champagne, Côte des Bar, Urville
  • Producer: Champagne Drappier
  • Harvest: 2020
  • Grapes: Pinot Noir 25%, Meunier 25%, Fromenteau 25%, Blanc Vrai 25%
  • Dosage: 1.8 g/L of old liqueur
  • Size: 75 cl

Tasting notes

  • Colour: Gold with pink glints
  • Nose: Wild fruit, blackberry and blueberry, cherry stone, vanilla infusion
  • Palate: Fruity and taut, fresh finish

Serving and storage

Serve it at around 7 °C, as an aperitif, in a white wine glass. With no added sulphur, it needs a cool and stable cellar: store the bottle lying down, away from light, and drink it in the coming years.

Food pairing

A fresh peach salad with mint and toasted almonds, langoustine tartare with Espelette pepper, ceviche or a platter of fine charcuterie.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to choose between wine, champagne, spirits, liqueur or chartreuse?

It all depends on the occasion (and what you feel like!).

  • Wine: to go with a good meal.
  • Champagne: for aperitifs and celebrations.
  • Spirits: to sip slowly, for lovers of character.
  • Liqueurs and Chartreuse: as a digestif, neat or on ice.

Are your products exclusively of French origin?

No, our cellar is open to the world! Although we favour French gems, we also select treasures from elsewhere.

What is the difference between a liqueur and a chartreuse?

Chartreuse is a herbal liqueur made by Carthusian monks according to a secret recipe. It is a liqueur , but not all liqueurs are Chartreuse.

At what temperature should you serve your alcoholic beverages?

Champagnes: 8 to 10 °C, and 10 to 12 °C for great vintages

Spirits: room temperature
