The Macallan Edition No. 1 is the first release of the distillery's Edition series, created to showcase the art of cask selection.

Released in 2015 in limited quantities, it was crafted from seven types of carefully selected oak casks, mostly sherry-seasoned European oak, for a deep, rich and well-structured profile.

Key facts

  • Origin: Scotland, Speyside
  • Series: The Edition Series
  • Size: 70 cl
  • ABV: 48%
  • Maturation: Seven cask types, European and American sherry-seasoned oak

Tasting notes

Dried fruit, ginger, vanilla, nutmeg, toasted oak and a hint of dark chocolate; a rich, spicy palate with a long, warm finish.

A collector's edition sought after by lovers of great single malts.

Tasting The Macallan Edition No. 1

The Macallan Edition No. 1 is best enjoyed neat, at room temperature, in a tulip glass that concentrates the aromas. A few drops of water can reveal new notes. Once opened, keep the bottle upright, tightly closed, away from light and heat.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to choose between wine, champagne, spirits, liqueur or chartreuse?

It all depends on the occasion (and what you feel like!).

  • Wine: to go with a good meal.
  • Champagne: for aperitifs and celebrations.
  • Spirits: to sip slowly, for lovers of character.
  • Liqueurs and Chartreuse: as a digestif, neat or on ice.

Are your products exclusively of French origin?

No, our cellar is open to the world! Although we favour French gems, we also select treasures from elsewhere.

What is the difference between a liqueur and a chartreuse?

Chartreuse is a herbal liqueur made by Carthusian monks according to a secret recipe. It is a liqueur , but not all liqueurs are Chartreuse.

Which products do you select?

We select great houses and renowned estates: iconic cuvées, vintages and limited editions.

At what temperature should you serve your alcoholic beverages?

Red wines: 15 to 17 °C

Champagnes: 8 to 10 °C, and 10 to 12 °C for great vintages

Spirits: room temperature

Liqueurs and Chartreuse: chilled or on ice

How can I track my order?
