Echezeaux Grand Cru 2024, Château de Marsannay comes from Flagey-Echezeaux, a stone's throw from Vosne-Romanée, and shares its aromatic vocabulary: spices, flowers, bright red fruit. It is the most perfumed Grand Cru in the Château de Marsannay range.
Echezeaux covers some thirty hectares divided into several climats, in the village of Flagey-Echezeaux, immediately north of Vosne-Romanée and above the Clos de Vougeot. The soils mix limestone and stony material washed down from the combe, with varying depths of earth. The appellation gives Pinot Noir that is more slender and more floral than its neighbours to the north, where spice and rose sign the Vosne register. These are wines of lace rather than of force, which open faster than the grands crus of Gevrey while still going the distance.

Château de Marsannay opens the route des Grands Crus, at the northern gateway to the Côte de Nuits. It belongs to the same owner as Château de Meursault and farms 40 hectares under organic agriculture, 28 of them on the best terroirs of Marsannay. Its jewels lie elsewhere: four Grands Crus, Chambertin, Ruchottes-Chambertin, Clos de Vougeot and Echezeaux, and Premiers Crus from Gevrey-Chambertin and Vosne-Romanée.

Frequently asked questions
Echezeaux or Grands-Echezeaux?
These are two distinct neighbouring Grands Crus. Grands-Echezeaux, far smaller, sits just below the Clos de Vougeot and gives slightly denser wines. Echezeaux, larger and higher on the slope, plays more on perfume.
At what temperature should it be served?
Between 15 and 16 °C. Above that, the alcohol takes over and the floral perfume fades. A quarter of an hour in a cool place before serving is usually enough if the bottle comes out of a heated room.
How is the bottle shipped?
Delivery is free in France on orders from 300 €. Each bottle is packed with care and shipped with tracking.
