Savigny-Lès-Beaune Blanc 2024, Château de Meursault belongs to the quiet whites of the Côte de Beaune: at Savigny, Chardonnay remains a minority next to Pinot Noir, which makes this an uncommon and often underrated bottle.
Savigny-lès-Beaune spreads out on either side of the Rhoin valley, a corridor that channels the winds and keeps temperatures cooler than at Beaune. The soils there mix marl, limestone and gravel carried down by the river. On this terroir, Chardonnay gives a straightforward, thirst quenching wine, built on tension rather than on richness, with a clean palate and a light body. It is a table white, to be drunk fairly young to enjoy its aromatic brightness.
What the critics say about this cuvée
The scores below cover the latest vintages of the cuvée, all vintages taken together. The 2024 vintage earns 90/100 in Bourgogne Aujourd'hui and the 2023 was rated 91/100 by Jasper Morris.
Château de Meursault is one of the finest estates in the Côte de Beaune. The Moulin Foulot fief it grew out of dates back to the 11th century. Bought in 2012 by Olivier Halley, the estate has since expanded its vineyard: 65 hectares across around a hundred plots, farmed under certified organic agriculture, giving five Grands Crus, twenty Premiers Crus and a dozen village and regional appellations. The estate sells entirely direct, and 100 % of its production comes from its own vines.

Frequently asked questions
Does Savigny-lès-Beaune produce much white wine?
No. The appellation is above all red and Chardonnay takes up only a small share of the vineyard. The whites of Savigny therefore remain confidential, which explains why they are rarely found at wine merchants despite how interesting they are.
At what temperature should it be served?
Between 11 and 13 °C. Colder, you lose the floral notes and the fruit; warmer, the liveliness that makes all its interest comes across as heavy. Take it out of the fridge a quarter of an hour before sitting down to eat.
How is the bottle shipped?
Delivery is free in France on orders from 300 €. Each bottle is carefully packed and sent with tracked shipping.
