Drappier Carte d'Or Mathusalem is the signature cuvée of Maison Drappier, here in methuselah: a Pinot Noir-led champagne, almost a Blanc de Noirs, born on the Kimmeridgian limestone of Urville.
The blend combines 80% Pinot Noir, 15% Chardonnay and 5% Meunier, with around 40% reserve wines that ensure depth and consistency. The grapes are gently pressed, vinified by gravity, without filtration and with very little sulphur, for a vinous, fruity, low-dosage champagne. The methuselah holds 6 litres, the equivalent of eight bottles, and comes in a wooden case. Large formats age the wine more slowly and more harmoniously, and this spectacular bottle is ideal for big celebrations: weddings, birthdays, receptions.

Frequently asked questions
How many people does a methuselah serve?
A 6-litre methuselah serves about forty to fifty glasses. It is chilled for several hours in a large bucket of ice and water, and is ideally served by two people so it can be handled safely.
Where is the Côte des Bar?
The Côte des Bar is the Champagne vineyard area of the Aube department, south of Troyes. Its Kimmeridgian limestone soils, close to those of Chablis, are particularly suited to Pinot Noir. It is there, in Urville, that Maison Drappier has been growing its vines since 1808.
