Deutz Demi-Sec is the demi-sec version of the non-vintage champagne of Maison Deutz, in Aÿ: a softer, more indulgent champagne, designed for the end of the meal.

It is based on a blend of the three Champagne grapes, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Meunier, in similar shares, complemented by reserve wines. The base wines are vinified in stainless steel tanks, plot by plot, then the bottles age in the house's chalk cellars. After disgorgement, a more generous dosage liqueur than for a brut gives it a clearly perceptible sweetness, balanced by the liveliness of the Chardonnay and the structure of the Pinot Noir. The result is a round, fruity and fresh champagne that finds its place with dessert as well as with some sweet and savoury starters.

Key facts

  • Origin: France, Champagne
  • Producer: Champagne Deutz
  • Grapes: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Meunier in similar proportions
  • Dosage: Demi-Sec
  • Ageing: vinified in stainless steel tanks, aged in chalk cellars
  • Size: 75 cl

Tasting notes

  • Colour: Bright gold, fine bubbles
  • Nose: Ripe fruit, white fruit, notes of brioche and honey
  • Palate: Round and indulgent, sweetness balanced by lovely freshness, fruity finish

Serving and storage

Serve it well chilled, at around 6 to 8 °C, in a white wine glass or a tulip glass. It is a champagne to drink within two to three years of purchase to enjoy its fruit. Store the bottle lying down, in a cool place away from light.

Food pairing

A yellow fruit tart, a strawberry cake, a tarte Tatin, brioche French toast or a citrus dessert. It also pairs very well with foie gras, lightly spiced Asian cuisine or a mild blue cheese.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to choose between wine, champagne, spirits, liqueur or chartreuse?

It all depends on the occasion (and what you feel like!).

  • Wine: to go with a good meal.
  • Champagne: for aperitifs and celebrations.
  • Spirits: to sip slowly, for lovers of character.
  • Liqueurs and Chartreuse: as a digestif, neat or on ice.

Are your products exclusively of French origin?

No, our cellar is open to the world! Although we favour French gems, we also select treasures from elsewhere.

What is the difference between a liqueur and a chartreuse?

Chartreuse is a herbal liqueur made by Carthusian monks according to a secret recipe. It is a liqueur , but not all liqueurs are Chartreuse.

Which products do you select?

We select great houses and renowned estates: iconic cuvées, vintages and limited editions.

At what temperature should you serve your alcoholic beverages?

Red wines: 15 to 17 °C

Champagnes: 8 to 10 °C, and 10 to 12 °C for great vintages

Spirits: room temperature

Liqueurs and Chartreuse: chilled or on ice
