Savigny-Lès-Beaune Premier Cru Les Peuillets Blanc 2023, Château de Meursault comes from a Premier Cru located on the Beaune side, on the southern bank of the Rhoin valley. In white, this named vineyard plot gives a wine broader and riper than the village level, without losing the freshness typical of Savigny.
Les Peuillets lies in the part of Savigny-lès-Beaune that looks towards Beaune, at the bottom of the slope, on sandy and gravelly soils brought by alluvium. These light, well drained soils ripen quite quickly and give supple wines with appealing fruit. With Chardonnay, that translates into more flesh and roundness than at village level, with an acidity that stays frank. It is one of the largest named vineyard plots among the Premiers Crus of the commune.
What the critics say about this cuvée
The scores below cover the most recent vintages of this cuvée, all vintages combined. The 2024 vintage was rated 91/100 in Bourgogne Aujourd'hui.
Château de Meursault is one of the finest estates in the Côte de Beaune. The Moulin Foulot fief, from which it comes, dates back to the 11th century. Bought in 2012 by Olivier Halley, the estate has since expanded its vineyard: 65 hectares spread over around a hundred plots, farmed under certified organic agriculture, which give five Grands Crus, twenty Premiers Crus and a dozen village and regional appellations. The estate sells entirely direct, 100 % of its production comes from its own vines.

Frequently asked questions
What does Premier Cru rank bring at Savigny?
The classified named vineyard plots occupy the best exposures of the commune, better drained and more regular in ripeness. The wine gains in volume, in precision and in length, while keeping the freshness that the Rhoin valley brings to the whole appellation.
Will this white keep?
Yes, but not indefinitely. The light soils of Les Peuillets give a wine already enjoyable at two or three years. It gains in texture up to six or seven years, then starts to lose the freshness that makes its balance.
How is the bottle shipped?
