Drappier Grande Sendrée Rosé 2018

Drappier Grande Sendrée Rosé 2018 is the great prestige rosé of Maison Drappier, a single-plot vintage wine born on the La Grande Sendrée lieu-dit in Urville.

La Grande Sendrée owes its name to a plot in Urville covered in ashes after the fire that devastated the village in 1836. A copying error in the land register gave it the S that sets it apart today. The cuvée is presented in a bottle reproducing an 18th-century bottle found in the house's cellars, and it is riddled entirely by hand. This rosé version, produced only in the very greatest years, is made by saignée with three days of maceration. The 2018 vintage, with a cool, rainy spring followed by a hot, sunny summer, offered optimal ripeness and concentrated aromas. The wines were 90% aged in large oak casks, then six years in bottle.

Serving and storage

Serve it at around 8 °C, in a large white wine glass. It can be kept for several years in the cellar. Store the bottle lying down, in a cool place away from light.

As an aperitif, with roast veal rump, potato rösti with crab, pigeon, semi-cooked salmon or a lightly sweetened red fruit dessert.
