Château Rayas 2006 – Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Château Rayas 2006 – Châteauneuf-du-Pape

4.9 out of 152 reviews

Château Rayas 2006 embodies the unique style of this legendary Châteauneuf-du-Pape estate: purity of fruit, exceptional finesse and timeless elegance.

Made exclusively from Grenache grown on sandy soils and aged in old large casks, this vintage reveals a refined bouquet of ripe red fruit, delicate spice, dried flowers and garrigue, with great length and a silky texture.

Key facts

  • Origin: France, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
  • Grape: 100% Grenache
  • Size: 75 cl
  • ABV: approx. 14.5%
  • Ageing: Old large oak casks

Tasting notes

Black cherry, candied strawberry, soft pepper, Provençal herbs and floral touches; a broad, silky palate and an elegant finish.

A classic, refined vintage for lovers of authentic great wines.

Serving and storing Château Rayas 2006

Serve Château Rayas at 16 to 17 °C in a large red wine glass. This mature vintage should be decanted just before serving, mainly to separate any sediment. Store the bottle lying down, away from light, at around 12 to 14 °C with humidity close to 70%.

Food pairing

Its finesse calls for delicate cooking: herb-crusted rack of lamb, roast poultry, pigeon, feathered game or mushroom risotto. Avoid heavily spiced sauces that would mask the purity of the Grenache.

Frequently asked questions

Why is Château Rayas so unique?

The estate grows Grenache on very sandy, cool soils surrounded by woodland, far from the powerful style of the appellation. The result is a Châteauneuf-du-Pape of rare finesse, often compared to great Burgundy.

Who makes Château Rayas?

The estate has belonged to the Reynaud family for several generations. Emmanuel Reynaud ran it for nearly thirty years.

How is the bottle shipped?

Frequently Asked Questions

How to choose between wine, champagne, spirits, liqueur or chartreuse?

It all depends on the occasion (and the desire!).

  • Red wine: ideal with a good meal.
  • Champagne: perfect for celebrations.
  • Spirits (whisky, rum, gin…): for lovers of character.
  • Liqueurs & chartreuses: sweet or herbaceous digestifs to be savored slowly.

Are your products exclusively of French origin?

No, our cellar is open to the world! Although we favour French gems, we also select treasures from elsewhere.

What is the difference between a liqueur and a chartreuse?

Chartreuse is a herbal liqueur made by Carthusian monks according to a secret recipe. It is a liqueur , but not all liqueurs are Chartreuse.

Are your products handcrafted or industrially produced?

Our priority is quality. We select passionate producers, often independent, who favour artisanal methods or those respectful of traditional know-how.

At what temperature should you serve your alcoholic beverages?

Red wines: 16-18°C

Champagnes: 8-10°C

Spirits: room temperature

Liqueurs / Chartreuse: slightly chilled or on ice

How can I track my order?

Once your order has been shipped, you will receive a confirmation email containing a tracking link. You can also visit the "Order Tracking" page to monitor the status of your order in real time.
