Bourgogne Chardonnay 2023, Château de Meursault is the estate's entry level Chardonnay, blended from plots spread across the Côte de Beaune. The bottle that shows the house style without committing to a cru budget.
The regional Bourgogne appellation covers the whole of the Burgundy vineyard, so everything depends on where the grapes actually come from. Here the plots lie in the Côte de Beaune, on clay and limestone soils at the foot of the slope, at varying altitudes. The wine is made like the senior cuvées, with measured ageing, and aims for precision rather than richness. It shows the citrus freshness and chalky finish typical of Burgundian Chardonnay, in a format you open without ceremony.
Château de Meursault is one of the finest estates in the Côte de Beaune. The Moulin Foulot fief it grew out of dates back to the 11th century. Bought in 2012 by Olivier Halley, the estate has since expanded its vineyard: 65 hectares across around a hundred plots, farmed under certified organic agriculture, giving five Grands Crus, twenty Premiers Crus and a dozen village and regional appellations. The estate sells entirely direct, and 100 % of its production comes from its own vines.

Frequently asked questions
Is a regional Bourgogne worth it?
Yes, when it comes from an estate that looks after its plots. The regional appellation says little in itself: it is the origin of the vines and the grower's work that create the difference in quality.
Should you keep it?
That is not what it is for. Drink it within two to five years of the vintage, while its fruit is still clear cut. No need to forget it at the back of the cellar.
How is the bottle shipped?
Delivery is free in France on orders from 300 €. Each bottle is carefully packed and sent with tracked shipping.
