Beaune Premier Cru Tuvilains 2024, Château de Meursault is a white Beaune Premier Cru from the Les Tuvilains named vineyard plot, at mid slope south west of the town. A Chardonnay of tension, uncommon since this plot is mostly planted with Pinot Noir.
Les Tuvilains occupies the mid slope of Beaune, facing east, on stony and shallow soils where the limestone rock is never far away. It is a plot historically devoted to red, and Chardonnay remains a minority there, which makes this cuvée rare. On this kind of lean, draining soil it gives a tightly knit white, with frank acidity and a chalky finish, closer in spirit to the top of a hillside than to the bottom of a slope. It gains markedly from being waited on for three or four years.
Château de Meursault is one of the finest estates in the Côte de Beaune. The Moulin Foulot fief, from which it comes, dates back to the 11th century. Bought in 2012 by Olivier Halley, the estate has since expanded its vineyard: 65 hectares spread over around a hundred plots, farmed under certified organic agriculture, which give five Grands Crus, twenty Premiers Crus and a dozen village and regional appellations. The estate sells entirely direct, 100 % of its production comes from its own vines.

Frequently asked questions
Why is this premier cru rare in white?
Because Les Tuvilains is traditionally planted with Pinot Noir, like most of the Beaune appellation. The areas under Chardonnay there are small and white cuvées from this plot therefore remain few.
Should it be kept?
It is already enjoyable young, but its tension melts after three or four years in the cellar. The most interesting window sits between four and eight years, depending on the vintage and on your taste.
How is the bottle shipped?
Delivery is free in France from 300 € of purchase. Each bottle is carefully packed and shipped with tracking.
