Meursault du Château 2023, Château de Meursault is the estate's village cuvée, blended from several plots spread across the commune. It is the house's benchmark Meursault, the one that sets the tone before moving on to the Premiers Crus.
Meursault is the largest village appellation for whites in the Côte de Beaune. The soils mix marl and limestone, with deeper clays at the bottom of the slope and stony ground higher up. Blending several plots makes it possible to recover the full character of the village: the richness and roundness brought by the lower hillside, the freshness and the backbone coming from the highest sectors. This is the style that built the reputation of the name, buttery, hazelnut, broad on the palate.
What the critics say about this cuvée
The scores below cover the most recent vintages of this cuvée, all vintages combined. The 2023 vintage was rated 93/100 by VertdeVin and 92/100 by Jasper Morris. It also received a Grand Or at the Frankfurt International Trophy 2025 and a gold medal at the Concours International de Lyon.
Château de Meursault is one of the finest estates in the Côte de Beaune. The Moulin Foulot fief, from which it comes, dates back to the 11th century. Bought in 2012 by Olivier Halley, the estate has since expanded its vineyard: 65 hectares spread over around a hundred plots, farmed under certified organic agriculture, which give five Grands Crus, twenty Premiers Crus and a dozen village and regional appellations. The estate sells entirely direct, 100 % of its production comes from its own vines.

Frequently asked questions
Why are the whites of Meursault so renowned?
Because the hillside brings together marl and limestone that give Chardonnay both richness and backbone. The village produces broader and more buttery whites than its neighbours, with a recognisable hazelnut signature.
Village or Premier Cru, which should you start with?
With the village. It shows the style of the commune and of the estate for a smaller commitment, and it drinks earlier. The Premiers Crus such as Charmes or Perrières then bring depth and a far greater cellaring potential.
