Côtes du Rhône Réserve Red Jeroboam, Famille Perrin is the house's blended Côtes du Rhône in jeroboam, a red of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre for a very long table.
The Réserve cuvée is the house's entry level in AOC Côtes du Rhône, and it is built as a blend of terroirs rather than as a volume wine. The Grenache comes from the Prébois sector, on stony clay and limestone soils and on gravelly clay soils. The Syrah is supplied by Vinsobres, on terraces rich in quartz and marly limestone. The Mourvèdre completes the blend and tightens the structure.
Famille Perrin is based at Château de Beaucastel, in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, where the family has worked for several generations. A pioneer of organic and then biodynamic growing, it belongs to Primum Familiae Vini, the circle of the world's leading wine families. Over the years it has extended its work to the other appellations of the southern Rhône, each cuvée coming from identified plots that are vinified separately.

Serving and cellaring
Serve it at 18 °C. A jeroboam develops even more slowly than a magnum, so allow five to six years. Keep it lying down, at a steady temperature, away from light and vibration.
Food pairings
This is everyday meat territory: beef, lamb, poultry in sauce and grilled meats. It also holds up very well with a ratatouille, a Provençal daube or a charcuterie board.

Frequently asked questions
What is Famille Perrin's Réserve cuvée?
It is the house's blended Côtes du Rhône, built on Grenache from Prébois, Syrah from Vinsobres and a share of Mourvèdre. Each lot is vinified separately before blending, then aged for a year. The aim is a wine that is consistent from one year to the next rather than a spectacular one.
Should it be decanted?
There is no need. The tannins are already supple. Opening the bottle half an hour before serving is plenty to let it breathe.
Why choose a jeroboam?
A Côtes du Rhône jeroboam holds 300 cl, the equivalent of four bottles. The larger the volume, the slower the wine develops, and the format makes an impression on a long table. Plan for a cradle or a bucket, because a bottle that size is poured with two hands.
How is the bottle shipped?
Shipping within France is free on orders over 300 EUR. Every bottle is carefully packed and sent with tracked delivery.
