Beaune Premier Cru Les Cent Vignes 2023, Château de Meursault grows on the northern sector of the Beaune slope, next to Les Bressandes. It is the most smiling Premier Cru of the slope: crunchy fruit, supple palate, immediate pleasure without ten years of waiting.
Les Cent Vignes occupy the lower part of the slope north of Beaune, on soils lighter and less stony than the climats lying above. The name comes from the historic fragmentation of this sector, divided into a multitude of small vineyards. The soil here is soft, ripeness comes easily, and Pinot Noir finds a setting favourable to the expression of fruit. The result is a perfumed wine, broad and accessible on the palate, whose fine tannins call for no long wait.
What the critics say about this cuvée
The scores below cover the latest vintages of the cuvée, all vintages taken together. The 2023 vintage was rated 95/100 by TWOFW, 94/100 in Bourgogne Aujourd'hui and 92/100 by Jasper Morris.
Château de Meursault is one of the finest estates in the Côte de Beaune. The Moulin Foulot fief it grew out of dates back to the 11th century. Bought in 2012 by Olivier Halley, the estate has since expanded its vineyard: 65 hectares across around a hundred plots, farmed under certified organic agriculture, giving five Grands Crus, twenty Premiers Crus and a dozen village and regional appellations. The estate sells entirely direct, and 100 % of its production comes from its own vines.

Frequently asked questions
Why the name Cent Vignes?
It comes from the old division of the sector, shared between a very large number of small plots. That fragmentation is still visible today, the climat counting many owners over a modest surface.
Which Beaune Premier Cru should you start with?
Les Cent Vignes make a good way in. The fruit is immediate, the tannins supple and the wine shows well from its youth, where Les Teurons or Les Trois Journaux call for several years in the cellar.
How is the bottle shipped?
