Beaune Premier Cru Grèves Les Trois Journaux 2024, Château de Meursault is a single parcel selection from the heart of Les Grèves. The name refers to the journal, an old Burgundian unit of area: three journaux, that is a parcel marked out long ago and worked separately.
Les Trois Journaux is an identified parcel inside the Grèves named vineyard plot, halfway up the Beaune hillside. As across all of Les Grèves, the soil is gravelly and very free draining, but this sector gives a wine distinctly more concentrated than the average of the plot, with more depth and a denser weave. Vinified and aged separately, the cuvée pushes the style of Les Grèves towards longer cellaring, without sacrificing the roundness of texture that is its signature.

Château de Meursault is one of the finest estates of the Côte de Beaune. The Moulin Foulot fief, from which it stems, goes back to the 11th century. Bought in 2012 by Olivier Halley, the estate has since expanded its vineyard: 65 hectares spread over about a hundred plots, farmed under certified organic agriculture, which yield five Grands Crus, twenty Premiers Crus and a dozen village and regional appellations. The estate sells entirely direct, 100 % of its production comes from its own vines.

Frequently asked questions
What is a journal in Bourgogne?
It is an old unit of farmed area, corresponding to what one man could work in a day, that is about a third of a hectare depending on the region. Trois Journaux therefore means a small parcel, marked out long ago.
Why single out this parcel of Les Grèves?
Because it regularly gives a wine denser and longer than the rest of the plot. When a parcel stands out vintage after vintage, the estate vinifies it on its own rather than blending it into the general cuvée.
How is the bottle shipped?
