Aloxe-Corton Premier Cru Les Maréchaudes 2024, Château de Meursault occupies the lower part of the hill of Corton, on the strip that touches the Grand Cru. A dense and straight Premier Cru, whose tight tannins clearly announce the kinship with the neighbouring Corton.
Les Maréchaudes lies on the south-east side of the hill of Corton, directly on the border of the Grand Cru: part of this named vineyard plot is classified as Corton, the other part as Premier Cru of Aloxe-Corton. The soils there are red, loaded with clay and iron, over a limestone base. This richness in clay holds the water and feeds grapes with thick skins. From it the wine draws a clear tannic column, a deep colour and a mineral base that supports cellaring.

Château de Meursault is one of the finest estates of the Côte de Beaune. The fief of Moulin Foulot, from which it stems, goes back to the 11th century. Bought in 2012 by Olivier Halley, the estate has since enlarged its vineyard: 65 hectares spread over around a hundred plots, farmed in certified organic agriculture, which yield five Grands Crus, twenty Premiers Crus and a dozen village and regional appellations. The estate works entirely on direct sales, 100 % of its production comes from its own vines.

Frequently asked questions
Are Les Maréchaudes in Grand Cru or in Premier Cru?
Both, depending on the part of the plot. The upper part of Les Maréchaudes is classified as Corton Grand Cru, the lower part as Premier Cru of Aloxe-Corton. The boundary follows the break of slope and the change of soil, and that closeness can be felt in the glass.
How long should you wait for it?
Count on five years at the very least for the tannins to melt. The wine then holds for about ten years, gaining notes of undergrowth and leather without losing its core of black fruit.
How is the bottle shipped?
Delivery is free in France on orders from 300 €. Each bottle is packed with care and sent by tracked shipping.
