Is The Macallan a peated whisky?
No, The Macallan's style is not peated. Its notes of dried fruit, spice and wood come mainly from maturation in oak casks that held sherry, along with ex-bourbon casks for some ranges. The Speyside distillery was licensed in 1824.
How should I taste a single malt from The Macallan?
Serve it at room temperature, in a tulip glass. Taste it neat first, then add a few drops of water if you like to open up the aromas. Store the bottle upright, away from light.
