Dom Pérignon limited editions are the house's vintage champagnes (Vintage or Rosé) presented in a gift box or label designed with an artist, such as Lady Gaga, Damien Hirst, Takashi Murakami or Björk. The wine inside is still a Dom Pérignon vintage; what sets them apart is the presentation and the limited production. To choose well, first understand the difference between Vintage, Rosé and Plénitude, then look at the edition and its condition.
Vintage, Rosé and Plénitude: the basics
Dom Pérignon Vintage: Dom Pérignon only produces vintage champagnes, made from a single year judged worthy of being declared. The blend combines Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, with long ageing on the lees before release.
Dom Pérignon Rosé: the rosé version of the vintage, made by adding a red Pinot Noir wine. Fuller and rarer than the Vintage, it is generally sold at a higher price.
Dom Pérignon Plénitude: the house considers that its vintages evolve in stages, called "Plénitudes". Plénitude 2 (P2) is a vintage left much longer on the lees before disgorgement, giving it more intensity and depth.

Which ones to choose for your project?
- For a first artist edition: the Damien Hirst and Murakami Vintages are the most accessible in the selection.
- For a memorable gift: the artist-edition rosés (Lady Gaga, Murakami, Damien Hirst) combine the rarity of the Rosé with a striking box.
- For the wine lover first and foremost: Plénitude 2 lets you discover a Dom Pérignon aged much longer on the lees.
- To build a coherent collection: pairing both versions from the same artist (Vintage and Rosé) is a common approach among collectors.
What makes these editions sought after?
Several factors explain the interest they attract: production limited in time, a design signed by a renowned artist, a gift box that is an integral part of the object, and of course the quality of the vintage inside. Once an edition has sold out at distributors, it becomes harder to find. This guide is not intended as financial advice: above all, choose a bottle you like.
How to store a limited-edition Dom Pérignon?
- Bottle lying down, so the cork stays moist.
- Cool and at a stable temperature, ideally around 12°C, without sudden changes.
- Away from light, which is harmful to champagne.
- Keep the box or case in good condition and dry: for an artist edition, it is part of the object.
When the time comes, serve the champagne well chilled, around 8 to 10°C, in a wine glass rather than a narrow flute to enjoy its aromas.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Dom Pérignon Vintage and Rosé?
Vintage is the house's white vintage champagne, a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Rosé follows the same vintage blending principle, with the addition of a red Pinot Noir wine that gives it its colour and more body.
What is Dom Pérignon Plénitude 2?
It is a Dom Pérignon vintage left much longer on the lees before disgorgement than the standard Vintage, giving it more intensity and depth.
Is the wine in an artist edition different?
No, the artist edition concerns the presentation (box, label). The wine is the Dom Pérignon vintage stated on the bottle.
How should a bottle of Dom Pérignon be stored?
Lying down, in a cool place, at a stable temperature and away from light, keeping the box or case in good condition.
