Pommard Premier Cru Clos des Epenots 2024, Château de Meursault is one of the two great premiers crus of Pommard along with Les Rugiens, in the north of the village. It signs its most elegant face: the same structure, but a silkier grain of tannin.
Les Epenots stretches to the north of Pommard, in the continuation of the Beaune hillside. The soils there are clay-limestone and stony, less loaded with iron than in the south of the appellation, and the slope is gentle. This combination gives wines that keep the frame of Pommard while showing more finesse of tannin and more perfume. Together with Les Rugiens, this is the named vineyard plot that pulls the appellation upwards, the one enthusiasts quote when they want to show that a Pommard can be as fine as it is powerful.

Château de Meursault is one of the finest estates of the Côte de Beaune. The fief of Moulin Foulot, from which it stems, goes back to the 11th century. Bought in 2012 by Olivier Halley, the estate has since enlarged its vineyard: 65 hectares spread over around a hundred plots, farmed in certified organic agriculture, which yield five Grands Crus, twenty Premiers Crus and a dozen village and regional appellations. The estate works entirely on direct sales, 100 % of its production comes from its own vines.

Frequently asked questions
Epenots or Rugiens?
Both named vineyard plots dominate Pommard. Rugiens, in the south and on ferruginous clays, shows itself more massive and more wild. Epenots, in the north, is finer and more perfumed. It is a matter of taste more than of hierarchy.
Can this wine be kept for twenty years?
On a good vintage, yes: it has the matter and the acidity to hold. Keep the bottles lying down, between eleven and fourteen degrees, away from light and from temperature swings.
How is the bottle shipped?
Delivery is free in France on orders from 300 €. Each bottle is packed with care and sent by tracked shipping.
