Corton Grand Cru Les Maréchaudes Magnum 2024, Château de Meursault occupies the lower part of the south east slope of the hill of Corton, on red clays laden with iron. This is a fleshy, dense and spicy Corton, built for long cellaring.
Les Maréchaudes lies on the south east side of the hill, straddling Aloxe-Corton and Ladoix-Serrigny, in the lower part of the slope. The soils there are more clayey and richer in iron oxide, hence their characteristic reddish tint. This terroir profile produces Corton that are broader shouldered and more immediately generous than those from the top of the slope, without losing any of the tannic framework that marks out the Grand Cru. It is a consistent climat, which comes through warm vintages as well as cooler ones.
The scores below cover the latest vintages of the cuvée, all vintages taken together. The 2024 vintage received 96/100 in Bourgogne Aujourd'hui. The 2023 combines 97/100 and the title of “Wine of the Year” at the London Wine Competition 2025, 94/100 at the DWWA, 94/100 from Jasper Morris and a gold medal at the International Wine Challenge. The 2022 is rated 94/100 at the DWWA, with a silver medal, and 94/100 from Jasper Morris. The 2021 received gold at the International Wine Challenge with 97/100.
Château de Meursault is one of the finest estates in the Côte de Beaune. The Moulin Foulot fief it grew out of dates back to the 11th century. Bought in 2012 by Olivier Halley, the estate has since expanded its vineyard: 65 hectares across around a hundred plots, farmed under certified organic agriculture, giving five Grands Crus, twenty Premiers Crus and a dozen village and regional appellations. The estate sells entirely direct, and 100 % of its production comes from its own vines.

Tasting notes
Serve this Corton Grand Cru Les Maréchaudes at 16 to 17 °C. Its cellaring potential is twelve to twenty five years. The magnum ages more slowly than the bottle, so count on a few years more. Store the bottle lying down, at a stable temperature, away from light and vibration.
A roast cut of beef, wild duck, fillet of venison with sauce grand veneur. A thirty six month comté to finish the meal.
Read what a Grand Cru is in Burgundy, the Grands Crus of Burgundy and their climats and the best red wine vintages. Find every cuvée in our Château de Meursault collection, and the rest of our Burgundy selection in the Bourgogne collection or among our red wines.
Both are climats of the Corton Grand Cru. Le Rognet, on the eastern flank, gives a straighter and firmer wine. Les Maréchaudes, to the south east and on ferruginous clays, shows fleshier and rounder from its youth.
Corton is indeed the only red Grand Cru of the Côte de Beaune, on the hill overlooking Aloxe-Corton, Ladoix and Pernand-Vergelesses. Les Maréchaudes occupy its south eastern part.
The magnum holds 150 cl, the equivalent of two bottles. The ratio between the volume of wine and the surface in contact with air is more favourable, which slows the evolution and often gives fresher wines at the same age. It is also the format for a big table.
