Meursault Le Limozin 2023, Château de Meursault is a village level Meursault from the Le Limozin named vineyard plot, immediate neighbour of the premiers crus Les Genevrières and Les Poruzots. One of the best sited village cuvées in the appellation.
Le Limozin lies north of Meursault, high on the slope, just above the premiers crus Les Genevrières and Les Poruzots. The soil is limestone and stony, the layer of earth thin, and the altitude slightly higher than that of the heart of the village. The result is a Chardonnay more tense and more mineral than the usual Meursault profile, where citrus freshness takes precedence over richness. This is a wine of precision, which builds over time and takes a few years in the cellar very well.
What the critics say about this cuvée
The scores below cover the most recent vintages of this cuvée, all vintages combined. The 2023 vintage was rated 93/100 by Jasper Morris.
Château de Meursault is one of the finest estates in the Côte de Beaune. The Moulin Foulot fief, from which it comes, dates back to the 11th century. Bought in 2012 by Olivier Halley, the estate has since expanded its vineyard: 65 hectares spread over around a hundred plots, farmed under certified organic agriculture, which give five Grands Crus, twenty Premiers Crus and a dozen village and regional appellations. The estate sells entirely direct, 100 % of its production comes from its own vines.

Frequently asked questions
Is Le Limozin a Premier Cru?
No, it is a registered named vineyard plot of Meursault, located at the top of the northern hillside. It is not classified, but its position just above Les Genevrières explains the level that critics often credit it with.
What is the difference with Clos des Grands Charrons?
Le Limozin, higher and stonier, gives a tense and mineral wine. Clos des Grands Charrons plays more on richness and roundness. The first for freshness, the second for texture.
How is the bottle shipped?
