Meursault Clos des Grands Charrons 2024, Château de Meursault is a village level Meursault from the Clos des Grands Charrons, in the north of the commune. It is one of the estate's cuvées that critics single out most regularly, vintage after vintage.
The Les Grands Charrons named vineyard plot lies in the northern part of Meursault, near the boundary with Monthelie, on well drained clay and limestone soils at mid slope. The Meursault appellation is among the largest in the Côte de Beaune and owes its reputation to Chardonnay wines that are both rich and structured, where hazelnut and fresh butter sit alongside a clearly present acidity. The plots located north of the village give wines a little more tense than the village average, which assures them a good hold over time.

Château de Meursault is one of the finest estates in the Côte de Beaune. The Moulin Foulot fief, from which it comes, dates back to the 11th century. Bought in 2012 by Olivier Halley, the estate has since expanded its vineyard: 65 hectares spread over around a hundred plots, farmed under certified organic agriculture, which give five Grands Crus, twenty Premiers Crus and a dozen village and regional appellations. The estate sells entirely direct, 100 % of its production comes from its own vines.

Frequently asked questions
Why is Meursault so well known?
Because it is the largest white wine commune of the Côte de Beaune and because its style, rich and buttery yet structured, set a standard. It has no Grand Cru, but its premiers crus and its best named vineyard plots rival them.
Should a Meursault be decanted?
Rarely necessary. A large glass and service at around 12 °C are enough. On a young and slightly closed vintage, a quarter of an hour in a decanter can help, but without excessive aeration.
How is the bottle shipped?
Delivery is free in France from 300 € of purchase. Each bottle is carefully packed and shipped with tracking.
