Drappier Rosé de Saignée is a 100% Pinot Noir rosé champagne made using the saignée method, a rare signature in Champagne that Maison Drappier has long mastered.

Rather than blending white and red wine, Drappier macerates the Pinot Noir grapes for about two days before drawing off the coloured juice. This demanding method gives a deep colour and a fruit-driven, vinous and expressive champagne. The low Extra Brut dosage, stated on the new label, preserves all the freshness of the Pinot Noir from the slopes of Urville.

Key facts

  • Origin: France, Champagne, Côte des Bar, Urville
  • Producer: Champagne Drappier
  • Grapes: 100% Pinot Noir
  • Method: rosé de saignée, two-day maceration
  • Dosage: Extra Brut, 5.5 g/L
  • Size: 75 cl

Tasting notes

  • Colour: Deep, vibrant pink
  • Nose: Very pure red fruit, violet, light spicy touch
  • Palate: Warm and silky, stone fruit, lovely freshness and a hint of liquorice on the finish

Serving and storage

Serve it at around 7 to 8 °C, in a white wine glass rather than a flute, so its aromas can show. Drink it within three to four years for its vibrant fruit. Store the bottle lying down, in a cool place away from light.

Food pairing

Antipasti as an aperitif, salmon en papillote, grilled lamb chops, spicy cuisine or, for dessert, a lightly sweetened strawberry salad. Its structure allows it to carry a whole meal.

Frequently asked questions

What is a rosé de saignée?

It is a rosé made by a short maceration of black grapes with their skins, which naturally colour the juice. In Champagne, most rosés are blended rosés: saignée, which is more delicate, gives more vinous wines with more intense fruit.

Why is Drappier a house apart?

Based in Urville since 1808, the Drappier family champions a terroir champagne, low in dosage and sulphur, made mainly from Côte des Bar Pinot Noir. It also preserves forgotten Champagne grape varieties and presents itself as the first carbon-neutral Champagne house.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to choose between wine, champagne, spirits, liqueur or chartreuse?

It all depends on the occasion (and what you feel like!).

  • Wine: to go with a good meal.
  • Champagne: for aperitifs and celebrations.
  • Spirits: to sip slowly, for lovers of character.
  • Liqueurs and Chartreuse: as a digestif, neat or on ice.

Are your products exclusively of French origin?

No, our cellar is open to the world! Although we favour French gems, we also select treasures from elsewhere.

What is the difference between a liqueur and a chartreuse?

Chartreuse is a herbal liqueur made by Carthusian monks according to a secret recipe. It is a liqueur , but not all liqueurs are Chartreuse.

Which products do you select?

We select great houses and renowned estates: iconic cuvées, vintages and limited editions.

At what temperature should you serve your alcoholic beverages?

Red wines: 15 to 17 °C

Champagnes: 8 to 10 °C, and 10 to 12 °C for great vintages

Spirits: room temperature

Liqueurs and Chartreuse: chilled or on ice
