Drappier Millésime Exception 2019 is the vintage champagne of Maison Drappier, a Pinot Noir-led blend that captures the character of the 2019 vintage.
Millésime Exception is made only in years when the growing season is judged remarkable: each bottle is the memory of a year. It is presented in a moulded bottle inspired by the house's old flasks. In 2019, Champagne had a near-ideal year in places, with good ripeness, clean aromas and good concentration. The blend combines 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, largely vinified in oak, for a textured, gastronomic-style champagne in which ripeness never means heaviness.

Serving and storage
Serve it at around 9 to 10 °C, in a tulip or white wine glass rather than a flute: it benefits from warming slightly in the glass. It can be kept for around ten years. Store the bottle lying down, in a cool place away from light.
Food pairing
As an aperitif, with a scallop risotto, grilled sea bass, plancha-cooked sole, roast poultry, braised veal, pan-fried mushrooms or a Langres cheese. It also pairs with an aged Comté.

Who is Maison Drappier?
Founded in 1808 in Urville, in the Côte des Bar, Maison Drappier is a family house now run by Michel Drappier and his children. A recognised Pinot Noir specialist, it grows its vines on the Kimmeridgian limestone of the Aube and ages its wines in 12th-century Cistercian cellars.
