Bourgogne Terroir d'Exception 2024, Château de Meursault is the estate's most ambitious regional cuvée, blended from plots chosen for their situation and their soils. A white Bourgogne built to stand comparison with village appellations.
The name refers to a selection of plots in regional appellation, kept for the quality of their soils and their position on the slope rather than for their yield. In the Côte de Beaune, some land lying just outside the village areas offers shallow limestone comparable to that of the neighbouring villages. Made and aged with the same care as the crus, this cuvée gives a Chardonnay more concentrated and longer than an everyday Bourgogne, with a mineral finish that gives away its origin.
What the critics say about this cuvée
The scores below cover the latest vintages of the cuvée, all vintages taken together. The 2023 vintage received 93/100 from Jasper Morris and a silver medal at the International Wine Challenge.
Château de Meursault is one of the finest estates in the Côte de Beaune. The Moulin Foulot fief it grew out of dates back to the 11th century. Bought in 2012 by Olivier Halley, the estate has since expanded its vineyard: 65 hectares across around a hundred plots, farmed under certified organic agriculture, giving five Grands Crus, twenty Premiers Crus and a dozen village and regional appellations. The estate sells entirely direct, and 100 % of its production comes from its own vines.

Frequently asked questions
What sets this cuvée apart from a classic white Bourgogne?
The plot selection. The grapes come from land chosen for its limestone soils and its exposure, made separately and aged like village cuvées. The wine gains the density and the length that a broad blend cannot offer.
Why the name Terroir d'Exception?
It is a plot selection by the estate, blended from its best plots classified in regional appellation. The level sits between a classic Bourgogne and a village wine.
