Bourgogne Côte Chalonnaise La Fortune 2024, Domaine A. et P. de Villaine is the second red of the domaine in Bourgogne Côte Chalonnaise, more immediate and more supple than La Digoine.
La Fortune comes from parcels with lighter soils than those of La Digoine, which gives a Pinot Noir that is more tender, more fruity and accessible earlier. It is the ideal way into the style of the domaine: the same precision in the winemaking, the same refusal of oak, but a wine that gives itself without waiting.
The domaine was founded in 1971 at Bouzeron by Aubert and Pamela de Villaine. Aubert de Villaine co-managed the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti from 1974 to 2022, and applied here, in the Côte Chalonnaise, the same demanding standards as at Vosne-Romanée. The vineyard, of around twenty hectares, has been farmed under certified organic agriculture since the late 1990s, one of the first conversions in Burgundy. Pierre de Benoist, Aubert's nephew, is in charge of technical management.
