The Macallan Ruby is the deepest, most intense and most mature expression of the 1824 Series.

Made exclusively from whiskies matured in sherry-seasoned European oak casks, it stands out for its natural deep ruby colour and its complex, majestic profile.

Key facts

  • Origin: Scotland, Speyside
  • Series: The 1824 Series, named for natural colour, no age statement
  • Size: 70 cl
  • ABV: 43%
  • Maturation: Exclusively sherry-seasoned European oak casks

Tasting notes

Dark fruit, deep spice, cocoa, cinnamon, toasted oak and candied orange peel; a rich, dense palate and a long, dry, elegantly oaky finish.

For lovers of powerful, refined single malts and authentic sherry-cask character.

Tasting The Macallan Ruby

The Macallan Ruby is best enjoyed neat, at room temperature, in a tulip glass that concentrates the aromas. A few drops of water can reveal new notes. Once opened, keep the bottle upright, tightly closed, away from light and heat.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the 1824 Series carry no age statement?

The 1824 Series classified its whiskies by natural colour, drawn solely from sherry casks, rather than by age. Ruby is its darkest and most intense expression.

Is The Macallan Ruby still produced?

The 1824 Series has been replaced in the distillery's range, which makes Ruby increasingly hard to find and interesting for collectors.

How is the bottle shipped?

FAQ - Le Caveau des Pépites

Frequently Asked Questions

How to choose between wine, champagne, spirits, liqueur or chartreuse?

It all depends on the occasion (and what you feel like!).

  • Wine: to go with a good meal.
  • Champagne: for aperitifs and celebrations.
  • Spirits: to sip slowly, for lovers of character.
  • Liqueurs and Chartreuse: as a digestif, neat or on ice.

Are your products exclusively of French origin?

No, our cellar is open to the world! Although we favour French gems, we also select treasures from elsewhere.

What is the difference between a liqueur and a chartreuse?

Chartreuse is a herbal liqueur made by Carthusian monks according to a secret recipe. It is a liqueur , but not all liqueurs are Chartreuse.

Which products do you select?

We select great houses and renowned estates: iconic cuvées, vintages and limited editions.

At what temperature should you serve your alcoholic beverages?

Red wines: 15 to 17 °C

Champagnes: 8 to 10 °C, and 10 to 12 °C for great vintages

Spirits: room temperature

Liqueurs and Chartreuse: chilled or on ice

How can I track my order?

Once your order has been shipped, you will receive a confirmation email containing a tracking link. You can also visit the "Order Tracking" page to monitor the status of your order in real time.
