Taittinger Brut Réserve is the signature champagne of Maison Taittinger, a non-vintage brut in which Chardonnay plays a larger part than in most bruts from the great houses. It is the finest way into the Taittinger style, made of finesse, freshness and elegance.

The blend brings together 40% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir and 25% Meunier, drawn from around forty crus and several harvests, including 30% reserve wines that keep the style consistent from one year to the next. The wine ages three to four years in the cellar before disgorgement and receives a dosage of 9 g/L. The result is a luminous champagne, both tender and lively, that suits the aperitif as well as the meal.

Key facts

  • Origin: France, Champagne, Reims
  • Producer: Champagne Taittinger
  • Grapes: Chardonnay 40%, Pinot Noir 35%, Meunier 25%
  • Dosage: Brut, 9 g/L
  • Ageing: three to four years in the cellar, 30% reserve wines
  • Size: 75 cl

Tasting notes

  • Colour: Bright golden straw yellow, fine bubbles, abundant and persistent mousse
  • Nose: White flowers such as acacia and hawthorn, honeyed notes, then yellow peach, mirabelle plum, apricot and fresh vanilla
  • Palate: Lively, melting attack, flavours of brioche, honey and vanilla, long finish on lightly toasted almond

Serving and storage

Serve it at around 8 to 10 °C, in a white wine glass or a tulip flute rather than a coupe, so its aromas can show. The house gives it a cellaring potential of five years or more, depending on whether you prefer it on freshness or on more brioche-like notes. Store the bottle lying down, in a cool place away from light.

Food pairing

As an aperitif, with gougères, devilled eggs or a black olive tapenade. At the table, it goes with tomatoes and burrata, artichokes, Mediterranean cooking built around aubergine, or cheeses such as Cantal and Mimolette. It is also surprising with fresh figs or a rum baba.

Frequently asked questions

What is a non-vintage brut champagne?

It is a champagne that blends wines from several harvests. Reserve wines, kept by the house, make it possible to find the same style every year. The term brut refers to a low dosage, below 12 g/L, which keeps fruit and freshness in the foreground.

Who is Maison Taittinger?

The origins of the house go back to 1734 and the merchant house Forest-Fourneaux, taken over in 1932 by Pierre Taittinger, who gave it his name. Still family-owned and independent, it is led today by Vitalie Taittinger. Its style rests on the generous place given to Chardonnay, a guarantee of finesse and freshness, and its wines age in the Gallo-Roman chalk cellars of Saint-Nicaise, in Reims.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to choose between wine, champagne, spirits, liqueur or chartreuse?

It all depends on the occasion (and what you feel like!).

  • Wine: to go with a good meal.
  • Champagne: for aperitifs and celebrations.
  • Spirits: to sip slowly, for lovers of character.

Are your products exclusively of French origin?

No, our cellar is open to the world! Although we favour French gems, we also select treasures from elsewhere.

What is the difference between a liqueur and a chartreuse?

Chartreuse is a herbal liqueur made by Carthusian monks according to a secret recipe. It is a liqueur , but not all liqueurs are Chartreuse.
