Hommage à William Deutz La Côte Glacière 2018 Magnum is the 100% Pinot Noir single-plot cuvée from La Côte Glacière in Aÿ, presented in magnum, in a warm and generous vintage.
La Côte Glacière is a 1.9-hectare plot in the Aÿ Grand Cru, facing due south on a slope of up to 25%, over a subsoil of block chalk that surfaces at around 70 cm. Its oldest vines have not been grubbed up since 1967, and its naturally moderate yields give concentrated berries. Despite its name, it offers a sunny, generous expression of Aÿ Pinot Noir. The Hommage à William Deutz cuvées are only produced in the greatest years, in limited quantities. In 2018, a long, hot summer produced a generous year: the plot was harvested from 25 to 27 August. The wine went through malolactic fermentation and receives a dosage of 7 g/L, chosen after blind trials. The magnum holds 1.5 litres, or two bottles. Because the volume of air under the cork is proportionally smaller, the wine evolves more slowly and gains finesse over time.

Serving and storage
Serve it at around 10 to 11 °C in a large white wine glass. In magnum, it has fine ageing potential. Store it lying down, in a cool place away from light.
Food pairing
Duck à l'orange, duck breast with pink peppercorns, roast pigeon or spiced poultry. The magnum makes it the centrepiece of a festive dinner.
