Collection: Nikka

Nikka, the other great name in Japanese whisky

Founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, who learned distilling in Scotland, Nikka owns two distilleries: Yoichi, on the island of Hokkaido, and Miyagikyo. Its whiskies range from peated malts to round, fruity blends.

Frequently asked questions about Nikka

Is Nikka whisky available on your website?

Nikka is one of the houses our cellar follows, but no bottle is available online at the moment. For Japanese whisky and great malts, browse our whisky selection, our spirits and our limited editions.

What is the difference between Yoichi and Miyagikyo?

Yoichi, by the sea in Hokkaido, heats its stills with coal and makes powerful malts, often peated. Miyagikyo, opened in 1969 in a mountain valley, makes softer, fruitier whiskies.

What is a Coffey whisky at Nikka?

Nikka uses Coffey column stills, invented in the 19th century. They produce grain and malt whiskies with a round, smooth profile, such as Nikka Coffey Grain and Coffey Malt.
