pommard-les-petits-noizons-2023-chateau-de-meursault
Pommard Les Petits Noizons 2023, Château de Meursault

Pommard Les Petits Noizons 2023, Château de Meursault comes from a named vineyard plot set high on the commune of Pommard, on the north west side. This Pommard plays on freshness and fruit rather than power, with tannins that are already amiable.

Les Petits Noizons lies in the upper part of Pommard, above the village, where the slope steepens and the soils become leaner and stonier. The altitude brings a few degrees of freshness to the harvest and the drainage limits the vigour of the vine. What comes out is a Pommard less massive than those of the heart of the appellation, on livelier red fruit and a finer tannic frame. It is a good way into a village known for its structure.

What the critics say about this cuvée

The scores below cover the most recent vintages of the cuvée, all vintages taken together. The 2023 vintage earns 16/20 from Bourgogne Aujourd'hui and the 2022 is rated 93/100 by VertdeVin.

Château de Meursault is one of the finest estates of the Côte de Beaune. The Moulin Foulot fief, from which it comes, dates back to the 11th century. Bought in 2012 by Olivier Halley, the estate has since expanded its vineyard: 65 hectares spread over about a hundred plots, farmed under certified organic agriculture, which give five Grands Crus, twenty Premiers Crus and a dozen village and regional appellations. The estate sells entirely direct, 100 % of its production comes from its own vines.

Key facts

Origin: France, Bourgogne, Côte de Beaune

Appellation: Pommard Les Petits Noizons

Estate: Château de Meursault

Grape variety: Pinot Noir 100 %

Vintage: 2023

Colour: Red wine

Viticulture: Certified organic farming

Volume: 75 cl

Tasting notes

Appearance: Medium ruby, clean and bright, without the density of the wines from the lower slope

Nose: Morello cherry, wild strawberry, liquorice, a floral note

Palate: Lively and juicy, fine tannins, a fresh and spicy finish

Serving and cellaring

Serve this Pommard Les Petits Noizons at 15 to 16 °C.
